Real time internet monitor shows attacks, traffic, latency

Akamai real time internet monitor

Akamai, who claim to deliver some 20% of world wide internet traffic, put up a real time web monitor that visualizes what’s going on around the internet at any time: In a very neat little map you get to see world-wide traffic, latency, and (how cool is that?) network attacks.

Akamai monitors global Internet conditions around the clock. With this real-time data we identify the global regions with the greatest attack traffic, cities with the slowest Web connections (latency), and geographic areas with the most Web traffic (traffic density).

As you can see in the picture above, at the time I’m writing this post Venezuela is having a hard time with about 701 attacks in 24h. (Not surprising, given the current political chaos in Venezuela.)
